Our Story

Andrew, David and Neil, having experienced running small businesses and working from home offices, recognised that working from home often resulted in ineffective and inefficient home computing solutions – particularly when it came to the use of more than one computer online and ‘networking’ devices such as printers. They realised that it would be really useful if they were able to switch on their laptops when visiting each others home offices and connect to the internet, if they could all be online at the same time, and be able to share resources such as printers. But of course they did not want to have a home office full of cabling and expensive hardware and equipment.

Of course the launch of BroadBand services in the UK began to change things for the better – not only for Small office or Home office (SoHo) workers but for the whole Family computing experience, a fact that Andrew and David as family men working from home have been quick to appreciate. In transport terms, BroadBand is like a six lane motorway compared to the single file track of a modem connection. It is much faster! But of course on a motorway you can have many cars driving along at the same time. Can you have several computers using a Broadband connection in the same way?

Many households now have more than one computer. In most families both parents and children are all computer users. Often they all want to use the computer at the same time... homework from school… instant messaging with friends… internet shopping. So although multiple computers help… really they all need to be online… all the time! This is where we come in!
